Two Volleyball Players Honored at 2011 All Sports Banquet

Co-Captains, Chelsie Snively and Ashley DeAtley were recognized at the 2011 All Sports Banquet at Urbana University for their achievements on the court and in the classroom.
Senior Marketing major, Chelsie, received the teams Defensive Player of the Year award based on her leadership and defensive play.
Senior Education major, Ashley, was selected by her teammates as Offensive Player of the Year as well as the teams Blue Knight Award recipient. Ashley was selected for both awards for her 'team' attitude, work ethic, leadership, and competitiveness. Both Chelsie and Ashley were named to the Athletic Directors Academic Honor Roll.
Ashley was also recognized as the co-recipient of the 2011 Female Academic Achievement award.
Congratulations to both of these seniors who truly led their team by example.

Jackson Earns Outstanding Marketing Student Honors

Blue Knight Volleyball is proud to announce that Ashley Jackson, Lima , Ohio, was recognized by the Urbana University Department of Business as the Outstanding Marketing Student.
Ashley is a true example of a Division II student athlete; performing at a high level not only on the court but in the classroom.
She is a junior Marketing major who was sidelined this past fall due to a devastating knee injury but has bounced back this spring and is looking forward to an outstanding season. She is a leader through her work ethic and pure determination to be the best she can be.
Congratulations Ashley!

Nine Blue Knights are named to the Athletic Directors Honor Roll. Six of the nine earned 4.0 GPA's in the fall term. To make the AD Honor Roll a student athlete must have received a 3.25 or better.

Academic Scholarship Competition

Reconnect with old teammates and meet the new members of Blue Knight nation!

Get reconnected by volunteering at next falls inaugural Blue Knight Invite! It is scheduled for September 3-4. It will be a five team invitational and five matches will be played each day. Come back and help with an event or be available to offer the 'new kids' some 'real world' advice.

Getting reconnected will also help us re-establish Alumni events. One event is to host an 'all-alumni' match the weekend of Homecoming. This event will put Alumni against Alumni. The 'new kids' will be your hosts.

Rough Week

Blue Knights had a rough week as injuries took their toll. The rough road started at the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover tournament when kill leader, Paula Lindsay went down with a 3rd degree ankle sprain. Freshman setter, Amy Hickman has been sidelined for the remainder of the year with an injured back and that was all before we faced the University of Findlay! Saturday senior defensive specialist, Danielle Miller, went out against Wheeling Jesuit with back spasms. Also on Saturday a starter had a problem with an alarm clock and she never made the trip.
What a week! This week will be better. The Blue Knights won't stay down.

Preparing for the Week

It's going to be a great week! The Blue Knights head to Indiana to take on Indiana University East and then Thursday head to Lansing, MI for the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Tournament.

After another road win the Blue Knights came home to lose one. It was a disappointing performance but the team is ready to go again.

Two More Saturday

Our Blue Knights bounce back after a slow start to the week, beating the University of Charleston on Thursday, who had a seven match winning streak.
The Blue Knights continued to play as one unit and with a lot of heart as we won two more Saturday.
Urbana took two matches at the Cedarville, Cincinnati Christian tri-match.
Cincinnati Christian could not stop the powerful offense and relentless defense of the Blue Knights. Urbana won 25-21, 25-16, 25-15.
Cedarville came to life against the Blue Knights but Urbana was not going to let this one slip away. Scores 21-25, 25-22, 31-29, 31-29. Urbana has gained confidence and are able to remain calm although being down 21-24 in the fourth set. What a match!

Blue Knights Have Great Weekend

The Urbana University Football and Volleyball teams win Saturday. Blue Knights football defeated the University of Dayton, 13-10.
Blue Knight volleyball defeated Robert Morris (Chicago) and the University of the Cumberlands.

Return from Alaska

Alaska was a great experience and we found that although we didn't win, we can compete against very strong Division II teams.

Urbana Splits First Day at Wayne State

The Blue Knights were defeated Friday, August 28 by host Wayne State University but rallied in their second match to defeat Slippery Rock in five sets.
Ashley Pepper put down 11 kills, Ashley Jackson had 10, Adrianne John had 9, and Brittney Bradner had 6 kills.
Karla Vogel led assists with 17 and Amy Hickman had 15. Ashley Pepper had 21 digs.

Blue Knights face West Liberty University and Aquinas on Saturday, August 29 to finish the two day tournament.

Kenny Chesney Concert

The Blue Knights kept concert goes safe during Kenny Chesney concert. Some watched from the top deck of Crew Stadium, others roamed the concert floor and isles, while a few worked the VIP area.
It was great to see Kenny Chesney, Sugarland, Miranda Lambert, and Lady Antebellum. What a show! That wraps up the concert security events for the Blue Knights this summer, but they will work security again at two Ohio State University Football games later this fall.
All proceeds of the concert security dates go toward the Blue Knight trip to Fairbanks, Alaska this fall.

Concert Security Fund Raiser

The 2009 blue Knight squad spent a weekend as security for 'Rock on the Range' in Columbus, May 16-17.
This event was held at the Columbus Crew Stadium.
The team heads back to Columbus to work as security for the Kenny Chesney/Sugarland concert, May 23! This concert should be a lot different from the metal/grunge rock of the past weekend.
All proceeds earned will go toward the teams 2009 classic in Fairbanks, Alaska.
